I taught history so kids used to think they’d get a sympathetic ear when they whined about math… They then had to listen to me talk about probability, the historical significance of the discovery of accounting and compound interest, not to mention the value of math in making exploration and navigation possible:-)))
I love this so much! The medieval quadrivium comprised the four mathematical arts, which are four of the seven liberal arts (combined with the trivium). Thank you for sharing this reminder of math's role in the great tradition!
It's one of my goals to bring this alive for my children. Will be working hard on it - and I'll share what works =) Classical ed has made learning come alive for our family.

I have given that answer to my children on occasion for sure. Though I think it's so much more than that =)
